At Cyfrid, we believe that conversion optimization isn’t always about massive redesigns—it’s often about refining the small details in the shopping experience.
Recently, we worked with a client on their Shopify store, focusing specifically on how the Add to Cart button behaves. It may sound simple, but this is one of the most critical touchpoints in any eCommerce journey.
Why focus on the Add to Cart button?
Think about it: the Add to Cart button is the gateway to checkout. If customers face friction here, it directly impacts conversion rates. Sometimes the smallest interruptions, like unnecessary reloads or clunky quantity inputs can cause hesitation or even abandonment.
That’s why we asked ourselves:
How can we make this step feel faster, smoother, and more intuitive?
Here’s what we implemented:
- Clean first impression → The Add to Cart button shows up in a minimal, distraction-free way (no quantity field initially).
- Smart transformation → Once an item is added, the button instantly turns into an Update Cart button, showing the quantity field already filled.
- Instant updates → Customers can adjust quantities seamlessly, with changes applied in real time—no page reloads required.
- Sticky behavior → The entire section stays fixed on scroll, so customers always have the option to add or adjust their cart without searching for the button again.
The results?
- Customers spend less time figuring out how to adjust their order.
- The checkout flow feels faster and lighter.
- The store now has a conversion-optimized journey where buying feels effortless.
